How to prevent, treat dengue

With the recent outbreak in dengue, people are growing increasingly cautious about the disease. One of the major reasons as to why people are not able to control dengue is because they aren't aware of the proper treatment or the symptoms of the disease. The dengue virus is like a viral disease which is caused by the Flaviviridae family.

Now this virus isn't contagious at all. But it does spread through the help of a vector and this vector is the dengue mosquitoes. Not all mosquitoes transfer this virus. The Aedes aegypti is known to be the species of mosquito which transfers this virus. These usually bite in the mornings.

The period of incubation, the period from which you get bitten till the period when you realize the symptoms is around 4 to 6 days. But it may vary till 14 days as well. The symptoms of dengue include:
  • High fever
  • Headaches which are severe
  • Muscle pain and joint pain
