What is cholesterol? Cholesterol is usually called the hypercholesterolemia which people normally call as high cholesterol.

This is the main factor which causes heart attacks. There are usually no signs and symptoms of cholesterol. But normally a person suffering from cholesterol will have patches being developed around his eyes and tendons will be formed in his body. The usual thing to be checked by a person when it comes to testing cholesterol levels is having a nice watch on your cholesterol diet on timely basis. If you continue eating fatty food then obviously you will face cholesterol, so you should try to avoid fatty food and reduce cholesterol. Get going and moving means having a lot of physical activity. Always keep hearing about the facts and warnings been given to you about maintaining your cholesterol levels.

Cholesterol is a very harmful substance and it turns to be harmful when it is level is higher than the normal. Cholesterol has the following functions in the human body:

- It can also enter in the structure of body hormones like sex hormones which is an important part of our body.

- It is important for production of acid which can easily digest our fats.

- Cholesterol covers the nerves of the myelin sheath. This sheath helps in transmission of nerve impulses efficiently.

Age Factor is another symptom which you can consider as you grow old obviously you will face problems. A number problems relating to health can cause hypercholesterolemia which includes Hypothyroidism, Pancreatitis, Type II diabetes, Nephrosis, Cirrhosis and other liver diseases. Proper medication is must and medicines, if prescribed should be taken accordingly. Few other health problems relating cholesterol are diuretics, anabolic steroids, progesterone and corticosteroids. Anything related to cholesterol or say rise in cholestrol levels will lead you to many other health problems.

High cholesterol level or cholesterol is become a threat and danger to many people. It has changed the lifestyle of many people including the sedentary changes. When people exercising they think they are getting healthy but on the same part it is very risky for people who having high cholesterol levels as such activities can increase cholesterol levels or hypercholesterolemia.

The problem of high cholesterol lies in increased risk for arteriosclerosis and heart disease. The primary causes relating to cholesterol are Hereditary, Blood pressure, Obesity, Dietary intake, Hypothyroidism, Renal impairment and Diabetes mellitus.

Steroids and other contraceptive pills are those which can either decrease or increase your cholesterol levels. So you should stop taking these drugs as they are very harmful. This is a disease which can only be detected by blood test.
